love the little blue toes of the P. murinus.

Can I suggest you provide a bit more humidity to your H. lividum, the substrate should be off dry - moist. And, with your pokies you really should provide a cork retreat, although they’ll burrow whilst young you may find lack of a hide causes stress.

Thanks Poxicator, now if only the little one would come out so I could get a picture of the freshly molted orange.

And of course you can make suggestions. Yeah the humidity is something I need to up a bit, although you can’t see it in the picture, the top layer of the substrate is the only dry part, everything under it is moist. Thats another thing I am going to work on is getting some cork bark, hopefully I can order some this payday, all the LPS around me don’t have any, its weird, you would think 3 LPS being with-in about 10 mins of each other someone would have alittle atleast. I need to get some for all 4 P.Murinus, 2 P.Regalis, 2 S.Calceatum, 1 H.Maculata, and all 4 C.Fasciatum for when they gow a bit more. I really need to get some pics of the other T’s as well.

The one in the first pic is a Haplopelma Lividum the common name(ewwww common names) would be Cobalt Blue tarantula. I would honestly not reccomend starting out with a Haplopelma, they are lighting fast, extremely deffensive, and while not having the worst venom, its still bad enough, ofcourse that is assuming you see them. I haven’t seen my adult female in little over a month now.

wow its a cobalt blue. i should have known that. I dident know they do the same thing as a trap-door spider. im not a beginner to spiders btw. my prized possession atm is a goliath bird-eater about 8 inches right now. i never thought about owning a cobalt blue. i see them all the time but i had know idea they are like trap-door spiders. im thinking about buying one now its price is sixty five bucks. is that good. thank you by the way.

Yeah, they’re pet holes for sure. I rarely ever see mine.

It depends. I could see an adult going for $65, especially at a pet store. I got mine for $25 from a breeder, and it was only about 2"

They don’t do like Trap Door spiders, they leave their burrows open. T.Blondi is a new world T and is more prone to kicking horrible hairs at you before a threat pose. H.Lividum are an old world T and are going to have a threat pose up before you can blink, they don’t have the hairs to kick. At 65$ I would hope its a mature female, I got lucky at a reptile show and only paid 30$ for my mature female.

I would have to agree with Monitor_Guy, there are many differences between a Cobalt Blue and a Goliath Bird Eater. The cobalt blue is going to be much faster and much more aggressive. If you don’t mind I am going to make a suggestion based on personal experience, The Cobalt Blue is beautiful there is no denying it. However you have to realize you will rarely see it (if you are lucky once a month). If you are looking to add to your collection and are looking for something with more color, and a little more difficult, I would suggest an Avicularia Versicolour (Pink Toe Tarantula). I am not trying to tell you what to do, but this is what I would suggest. It is brilliant Blue, and is arboreal which means, you will see it more. I will post a pic of the one I had to give you an idea of how it looks.

Here is a pic of one of my A Versi Slings I had. This will give you an idea of how nice their colors can be. also you should note not all H. lividums will have that amazing blue to them, some of them can look brown.
A. versi

My 2 inch H. lividum Sling I had.

Please note, that The H. lividum is not in it’s enclosure and that is why there is no substrate, this was during a rehousing. I would never recommend not using substrate just so you can see you spider all the time, becuase it will kill them!

Cheers,

Rob

I agree, if you’re wanting something that you’ll be able to see. If you get an H. lividum this is what you will see 90% of the time.

And this is what you will see the other 10% of the time.

lol

And I agree that A. versicolors are great tarantulas. I don’t have any good pictures of mine in the blue phase, but rest assured, he was gorgeous. Very handleable, too, as long as I made sure not to breathe on him, because that startled him and he was very fast...
