 Lets Play a Game

lets try this out, this forum has been pretty much empty so in the hopes of getting more people back on here, we should play a game.... basically someone will post a pic of a Tarantula (only Ts, way too many true spiders out there) and the rest of the forum has to guess what the T is... the first person to guess right gets to post a pic of a T they want everyone else to identify... if no one guesses the T in the first week then you must tell everyone what type of T it was and gets to go again.

Here is one of my juvi T’s i cannot upload directly to the site unfortuneately but here are some details and a link to the pic...
Its about 2 inches in this pic, is fairly common in the trade, and is found in Trinidad most commonly, and is terrestrial... what type of T is this?

Hopefully this link works

Cheers,
Robb

agreed, it doesnt get much traffic, there are better forums but this serves a purpose too and has a huge array of exotics covered. Oh well, we can only try.

See if you can guess this one.

Nope, B. boehmei is much brighter red on the legs, carapace and abdomen. This is a golden ginger colour and far more docile. Give you a clue - its from Arizona

Hey Pox...

Hard to see those femurs but I’m guessing they are dark in color. Aphonopelma chalcodes perhaps?

Aphonopelma is the correct genus, now you just need the species. Quite similar to chalcodes, which is why I put it up, keep going to see if you can find this recent addition to the hobby.

Heh...bloody Aphonopelma...almost as bad as the Avics with some of the species looking so much alike (esp. depending how freshly molted they are).

I’ll take another go at it...

Aphonopelma sp. new river (sometimes called the New River Rust Rump)

So possibly an undescribed species....

whey hey! you are 100% correct, well done. Although there were a few clues :)
Perhaps I should have put an easier one up but it beats trying to identify the "eeek is this spider going to kill me" threads :)

Your turn DG

Yep, B. boehmei. I’ve had 3 sub-adults/adults and this one is the least flickypelma of all of them.

OK, so whats this one then, and can you give me its scientific and common name:

My only guess is Brachypelma Klaasi (mexican pink beauty or mexican pink) And that is definitely a shot in the dark... the colors look different but its the only T i can think of with that similar coloration and those thick itchy hairs.

Unfortunately The only pics I have are either very easy to guess, or they are pics of slings lol which are very hard, Im not sure if i have posted this pic before if i have then i guess it should be pretty easy, but hopefully I havent, and sorry it is a sling! But colors are fairly true, so you should be able to get it.

Try to get the scientific name and the Common name, these are old pics... I sold this little guy to my buddy its a shame i dont have pics of him now, he is 5x this size lol!! Very beautiful too.

Very close, but not cyanognathus at this age though it definitely looks like one, and yes it is Ephebopus sp.

Ok, I’m afraid mine will be much too easy, but here it is:

Sorry for the poor quality; it’s the best one I could find.
