 Hamster FACTS

The hamster gets its name from a German word for storing food. Domestication began when a Zoologist found a mother and 10 young in the Syrian Desert (North of Israel).Hamsters are usually Pregnant for about 16 days before they give birth.

Yeah don’t let Snakenator bug you. They are just trying to make you mad. I love snakes too but have more experience with mammals. I, for one, DO care.
LOL for one thing, it’s good to know about the gestation period. I found out the hard way about dwarf hamsters when I was fostering one for my cousin. He had a pet female & soon after buying her, she gave birth. I told him I would take care of her & the litter until they were weaned, take the babies to my local pet shop, & give back his original pet. Well when I saw the babies were eating solid food & went to separate them, what should I find but MORE PINKIES! Apparently their gestation period is even shorter than some other hammies (or so I hear but I am no expert). Never let some grumpy person keep you from sharing knowledge. Good for you!
