 Five lined skink hatchlings

My skinks bred and had 26 eggs. The first 10 hatched and 8 only survived after leaving the eggs. Another one died earlier today. I have the tines crickets ever in with them but they don’t seem to be eating them they are now over 24 hours old. I took them away from the mothers and nests as soon as they started hatching because the males are in with them and I didn’t know if they would eat them or not. Did I do something wrong or am I not giving the right food. Is it normal for some to not survive? also they all have like little cords coming out where the eggs were attached is the normal or should i cut them or leave them like you do with mammals? Please let me know.
