Sandfish are a unique species of skink. They are literal "sandswimmers." Their head is shaped like a shovel and the fingers are fringed to help propel them through the sand. Obviously the best way to keep them is in sand at least three inches deep for good digging. Substrate heat at one end of theis tank is a good idea. A few decorations in the tank will make it look nicer. They will occasionally come out in the mornings to search for food. Though I have heard lots of differing opinions it has been my experience that very few Sandfish will eat crickets. They prefer mealworms and various grubs which makes sense because these are the things they would most often encounter in the wild. You can try them on crickets but don’t be surprised if they don’t eat them. Mine fed readily on mealworms, regulars and supers. Hope this info helps. If you have other questions just post them. Have a Great Day!!! |
