 Grasshoppers

i just feed my emperor a grasshopper and he ate it so i was wondering would it be safe me to catch grasshoppers and then throw them in his tank. thereís thousands of em by my house anyway.

as long as there are no pesticides or chemical fertilizers where, or anywhere near where you got them.

I would not advise it unless you live waaayyy out in the boonies where no one else lives within miles of you. The chances of wild caught prey having been contaminated with chemicals is extremely high. Even if chemicals are not used in your neighborhood, thatís not to say that they arenít in some other neighborhood and insects can travel very long distances.

Itís usually ok to feed your scorp a grasshopper(s) as long as it looks healthy and you know that itís relatively clean (regarding contaminants). The only thing that you canít see are the ever-present fungal infestations or gordian worm parasites that a non-captivity-raised grasshopper may bring with it. BE CAREFUL!
