 Scorpion heating ?

i know that you donít need to have a light on a scorpion, but if you have a scorpion in a ten gallon tank would it hurt to put a little 5 gallon uth or something small like that on one end of the tank.

If itís an emp, that would be ok, unless the daytime temps in your home are over 80 F.
P. imperator like it hot and humid so a little additional heat generally wonít hurt any. Just watch your humidity if you do. The heat will suck the moisture right out so be mindfull of the water dish and humidity levels.

Itís true, you donít need to have a light on an Emp. but its food critters do need it. Also too intense a light will fry it. Indirect lighting will do if itís near a fairly consistent outside heat source or your home is warm. 80 to 86 degrees F is preferrable with a 75% and above humidity level. Try regulating the light source with the available air intake and output. A small watt bulb will raise the temp of your tank within minutes if thereís not too much ventilation. This will retain the heat and yet not allow all your moisture to escape. Also, donít be afraid to ket the tank cool down at night as this is what happens in nature. My 16 scorps all come out to hunt after Iíve shut off their lights and heat and the temp has dropped below 78 F. Sometimes a little coolness tells them itís night and itís safe to come out and hunt. Try to maintain a steady circadian rhythm of nocturnal vs. diurnal cycles.

Actually doing that will *kill* the moisture in the container. Heat lights zap the moisture out of everything and when using them, additional moisture is needed to maintain proper humidity levels.

a zero. unless you live in greenland. lighting will kill the humidity unless you mist every minute.
