Ok, now I KNOW that you lied when you said youíve been keeping emps for 4 months.
NO LIGHTING should be used, ESPECIALLY not black lighting.
Scorpions are *nocturnal* and are NOT reptiles in any way, shape or form. They donít need hot rocks (but then again neither does anything else) basking lights, climbing sticks, etc.

if the scorp is in a dark room all day, that gets minimal daylight. would a light be needed to keep a regular pattern for him

It is good for them to have a day/night cycle but that can easily be accomplished by opening the curtains or blinds....as long as the scorpion is not in front of the window.

ok, i guess the sun does count as a light source, but you dont need any special lights if that is what you meant vik.

Unless the hurricane is lasting 24/7 365....it doesnít matter. A few days or weeks of relitive darkness isnít going to bother a scorpion any. Besides, if one is in the middle of a hurricane then thereís no power to use a light source anyway....unless one is going to waste the batteries to actually put a flashlight on the container for 8 hours a day.

If you do want to have some light on the tank, just make sure to *not* leave it on all the time (only what the regular day time length would be) and do not place the light too close to the container as the heat from it will suck the moisture from the container very quickly and, if placed too close, will also heat up the glass/plastic, which you really donít want.
