In a 55 you should be able to comfortable house 5 or 6. Two adult emps can live comfortably in a 10 gallon. It is a good idea to try and provide 2 hides per scorpion. Or, if that is not possible, at least 1 1/2 times the amout of hides to scorps. The reason being so they can pick and choose which one(s) they want to hang out in and often times they will enhabit more than just one.
Bed a Beast is not the best choice of substrates for this particular species. Since they are a humid loving species as well as burrowers, Bed a Beast does not tend to hold burrows very well and is more likely to deteriate more quickly because of the amount of moister this species needs.
Spaghnum peat moss works very well, does not easily mold or deteriate and is easy for them to burrow in, as well, it holds its shape well for burroing.
Several wide, shallow water dishes would be a good idea, or, if youíre interested, there is another way of keeping humidity elevated without having to have a lot of water dishes and misting all the time. You *do* need at lleast one water dish and preferably a large, shallow one so the scorpions can safely climb in and out of it as they often will submerge themselves in their dishes to bathe.

False bottom
If you skip down to post #11 youíll find what Iím refering to. Itís often called a false bottom because the gravel layerís only purpose is to hold water.
