 Molting or dead?

Hey guys, my emp is either dead or molting. He is almost lifeless right now. yesterday i went to feed him a silkworm and when i lifted his cave, he was not his usually defensive self. Anyways i took him out, and he was moving very slowly and looked like he could not move at all. Could it be s/hes sick or is it that s/hes molting. S/He has never molted with me so i dont know what it is right now. S/He currently 5 inches long so its possible taht shes molting.
My emps cage is a 5 gallon, peat moss substrate, potting soil and gravel at the bottom.
I dont have a heating source but thermometre in her tank says 80-85 degrees. Its a constant 85 degrees in my reptile room.
Humidity is at 88%.
Fed every other day, mealworm, crickets, ocassional silkworm.
Did i do something wrong?

Also, the body thats not covered in armour used to be white, now its brown. And the entire bottom half of its body is now turning brown. Please tell me my emp is not dead.

Sounds like a molt to me. Just leave it be for a while and keep an eye on it. Also, make sure your humidity is up.

thanks metz, thats reassuring, cause i was resaerchign molting on google and they were like the same colour as my emp so i guess its molting. ANyways, its humidity is at 80% but i still mist him twice a day. I put saranwrap? on 1/2 of its lid to help keep humidity in.

 Molting or dead?

this is spartan34s brother. I think his scorpion is dead. I left him alone in its tank for a week now. ANd he does not seem to be molting. His tank smells, so could it be a sign of rotting? I was supposed to be changing the peat moss on monday but totally forgot about it. Hes the same colour but when you pick him up, hes flimsy. He has lost tremendous weight and when you pick him up hes squishy. I will post pics

r.I.P
This is the first time an animal died on me, or rather us. Should i cremate him or bury him in our backyard?

when our scopions die, we just leave them in a hot container and wait for the insides to disapear. This leaves a perfectly preserved shell which you can then put on display.

It might be to late for a rotting scorpion. but just put it in an ordinary plastic container and leave it in the sun. I live in arizona so ours dry out very quick. To be honest, scorpions that die in the arizona desert get eaten by sun spiders and ants before there could be a remote chance of rotting. You leave them in the containers untill you think the insides have compleatly gone. I have a beatiful collection of desert hairy scorpions, a moth, and a sun spider. Another neat way to preserve them would be to get a cotten bud and gently apply a thin layer of sap.
