You’d need one of those large heat mats. But I honestly like the infrared heat bulbs better and a 100W one would do well for that tank.

The ceramic heat emitters are more expensive and they don’t give off any lighting. The infrared heat bulbs give off heat and give off red lighting which you can use to see your scorpions at night. Keep in mind that the red lighting does bother some people (maybe they’re sleeping next to it). Both require a heat lamp to put the bulb/emitter in.

No problem. If you want to join a more active site dedicated to scorpions, I suggest scorpionforum.darkbb.com

It’s a great site with a lot of great info, pics, videos, and most importantly, people.

Usually they send you a confirmation email. You have to click on the link they send you to activate your account. Let me know how that turns out. I’m H. laoticus on that forum, by the way.

I’m actually already bored with that place, except for the occasional posts on the community/non-scorpion threads.

I’m just not really into scorpions enough to care about it and it just annoys me when everyone thinks they have something to prove by only using scientific names for everything as if there’s something wrong with saying "emperor" - One of the reasons why I like this forum better than many others I’ve been to. No matter how dead it may be sometimes.

Now excuse me while I go take out my Python molurus bivittatus for a while.

There is a very good reason why scientific names are used instead of common ones for scorpions. Many times common names are used for several species of scorpions and do not pinpoint the specific species. Not only that, most scorpions do not have common names. Scientific names are useful for finding info on the net without confusing the species because there’s more than just "emperor scorpion" or "desert hairy scorpion," for example.
