 New Emp scorpion

Hi i got a Emp scorp about 2 days ago i have it in a pretty big tank and i use a thermostat to keep the tank at about 80C warm end and about 76 cooler end (not sure if that is to low) and about 80-85% humidity it has a shallow water bowl, places to hide and pretty deep substrate he seems healthy walks around climbs on the logs etc but does not eat i am not to worried atm he might of been fed well before i bought him (forgot to ask when last fed) but i was told they will eat when ever they get the chance to? i am not sure how old he is but he is pretty big little just shorter than my hand. is this normal? also do UV hurt/stress them out saw a website saying blacklights can kill them

Hey, congrats on your emp.

You mean 80F, right?

I wouldn’t be too worried about him not eating, they usually eat once every 1-2 weeks.
Mine won’t eat until like a month or so. And even then I actually have to shove his food in his claws and watch him to make sure he eats it.

I’m not sure about the UV stessing/killing them or not, but he doesn’t need lights anyway, so I wouldn’t use one.

Everything else sound fine. Goodluck with your emp.

Are you pulling their legs off? He may not be able to catch them. I also think that maybe the locusts are too big. Well, if youve only had him for about a week, I wouldnt worry, still. He may just not want to eat just yet. Keep trying and keep us updated. If he doesnt eat in like two or three weeks, then I would try smaller prey.

As long as your Scopr has access to fresh clean water i woulndt worry about him eating once he has settled in he will eat. You need to leave him be for at least a week to settle.

YES!!!! uv and black light will stress them out and will kill them over an extended period of time..
