 Red light?

We have four UTHís on our scorpion cage, but the temps arenít staying up. Can we use a red light at night to warm it up in there?

itís a 20 high and probably a 60 watt. I had a black light over them but heard that was trouble so I took it off and then the temps dropped to 80 I think the black light was a 60 watt maybe higher but I can just adjust the height of the light over the tank thatís what I did with the black light and got it right at 90.

Pebo,
Try cutting some card board to fit the sides of the tank. That will help hold the heat in. Also, Do you have a screened top? I have my screen 2/3 covered with Press N Seal. And I have a towel thrown over the entire top of the tank. Rayna :-)

itís 3/4 covered in plastic wrap and theres a shirt covering the part that doesnít have the light over it which is only a 25 watt bulb but itís still only 85 on the hot side I like the cardboard idea Iím also going to try to find a higher wattage bulb that one was at wal-mart so Iím going to try the petstore I saw some infrared lights in there and some red bulb lights. (by the way this is peboís boyfriend)

LOL, Okay,
Actually, 85 is a good temp. if You can hold that temp. and keep the humidity at 80+, too. I wouldn`t worry about getting it any hotter than that. What is your humidity? Rayna :-)

I actually havenít checked the humidity in a week I only have one hygrometer but I will check it at lunch. last time it was holding pretty steady at 75 and Iíve been spraying in there daily at least once. thereís always humidity on the glass not where the heat mats are though that dries up right away. I havenít stayed up too late recently but they have been in the same hole hiding every time I look in there. last night one was out under his hide on the cool side so I think they might just get out of their burrow run over there to cool off and then come back and hide. is this normal behavior?

Actually it is VERY normal. Scorpions can be very active when they want to be. My emps constantly switch around to different hides all the time.
