Here are some pics we took of my husband`s Scorpions. Don`t know if You can see it or not, but the male (top of the pic) is missing his stinger. We were told when we got him that He got into a tussle with several much larger females and it was pinched off by one of them??? Our female loves him, tho. They are always snuggled up together when they are sleeping.

We just moved our Scorpions into a 20 gal. (long) tank. I wanted to share the pics.

This next one is looking down into the Tank.

Thanks for looking :-)

near perfect set up, the only thing i would suggest would be add an inch or two of soil just in case they wanted to burrow.

i lied, two things. if you do plan on babies i would add a flat rock or slab of wood for the male to lay his sperm on.

Thanx... :-) Actually their bedding is probably about 3 inches deep. It`s called Jungle Bed. They do burrow...One day I "lost" the male for a while...LOL...He had burrowed down under the Volcano. From what we were told when we got them, They should be about 1 1/2 years old right now. They are sexualy mature at around 4 years-right? Will they try to mate before that age? Let me know if I was told wrong...LOL Thanx Rayna :-)

i guess the angle of the pic made it appear more shallow. 4 is generally the norm, but be prepared for a 9 month gestation period!

I canít tell from the pictures how large the scorpions are, but, just FYI, imps are slow growers, so, if they are 1.5 years old, they would be about 2 inches from claw to tail and thus, no, would not be sexually mature. With imps. sexual maturity is often times determined by size rather than age. Once an imp is about 4 to 5 inches, claw to tail, while they are not "mature" as far as full grown, they generally are sexually mature.
As to the substrate, I thought the same thing as Meee, the angle of the pic is deciving.
3 inches of substrate is OK, but, if the scorpions are at least 3 inches in themselves, you really want more substrate than that. While with tarantulas, the general rule of thumb is to provide once inch of substrate for every inch of spider, with scorpions, itís good to provide at least 2 inches of substrate per every inch of scorpion, especially obligate burrowers like P. imperator.
