Hi :) I’m new to this website and when I get the money( new job) I want to get a new pet. Are fire salamanders good pets? I can’t decide what to get. Thanks :)

Hi, I have kept fire salamanders but find them to be somewhat on the delicate side... a better suggestion in my opinion would be the barred tiger salamander which is equally attractive (especially the barred variety) and also has a very outgoing personality... They have very healthy appetites and soon learn to expect food when you go near their terrarium, so they actually will come out of their hiding place to meet you! Good foods for them are crickets, earthworms, etc.

I agree, i have an eastern tiger salamander and he is fairly easy to care for. Keep his tank moist, water bowl clean and filled. Worms every couple of days and he is set. He’s also pretty handsome for an amphibian.
