Salamander laxative? I’ve had a tiger salamander for 3 years. He was an adult when I got him, so I have no clue how old he is. He was sick several months ago and very near death, as were several of my amphibians. After vet visits and phone calls, much care, force feeding, antibiotics, etc, he survived. The one lingering problem since then has been that his mobility isn’t that great. He can get where he wants to go eventually, but sometimes it’s like his legs don’t do quite what his brain wants them to do. The problem now is that he hasn’t had a real good poop in a couple of weeks. He is eating fine, but seems a little bloated. A little bit came out last week, so I don’t think he’s completely blocked. Thoughts? I don’t want to take him into the vet after all he’s been through - the stress might do him in, but I will probably do a phone call. Just thought I’d see if anyone here has any ideas. Thanks.

Salamander laxative? Forgot to mention. He hasn’t eaten any substrate. Due to his mobility issues he doesn’t catch food well so he is hand fed, so no substrate gets mixed in.

Salamander laxative?
If he’s having trouble controlling his legs I suggest keeping him in an aquatic / semi-aquatic setup. Use an aquarium gravel substrate. Large stones for haulouts. Many plants and cover. Swimming will help him gain strength in his legs.
