 FBN Temp. Problems

I was considering getting a couple of Japanese FBNs for my ten gallon tank. I soon realized that it would be hard to cool the tank into the low 70s during the summer. Any tips? Ice seems a bit extreme. I don’t want to get them and have them become very ill due to the high temperatures.

well..even if you get them in the winter, you’ll have summer in 9 months again and you need a plan regardless.

ice actually does work well. i just freeze pure water in ice trays and dump it in there if it’s too high..i do it for my salamander as well, it doesn’t take long or i wouldn’t do it. i’m a low maintenance animal person.
i have two fans on each of their tanks too.
i keep my bedroom door open when my dogs aren’t inside to allow better circulation and keep my ceiling and a large box fan on at all times.
which keeps my entire room 10 degrees colder.
(i have that one room in the house that doesn’t get a/c or heat so i’ve learned ways to deal. lol.)

and water maintains temperature much better than air..i haven’t had near as many problems keeping my newt chilly as i have my salamander.

Thanks! I am able to have a fan going in my room. During the summer, the temperature is around 82 degrees fahrenheit in my house. I suppose that ice is the solution. I may be able to attach a small fan to the aquarium. Spring and fall shouldn’t be but so bad and winter of cource is fine.
