 Rat Teeth

My dumbo rat Sushi does not chew on the chew sticks i give her and I am getting worried about over grown teeth, is there a good chew stick brand at pets-mart i can buy?

I don’t know if it’s true for all rats but mine don’t chew. They grind their teeth instead. Maybe you can check Sushi’s teeth and see if she’s been filing them down that way. If you feed her lab blocks that might be enough for her to keep her teeth short. Another trick would be to try giving her a bone to gnaw on. It might encourage her to chew. Ultimately you may need to take her to the vet to get her teeth trimmed. If they’re misaligned then it could be making it hard for her to grind them down properly.

Rats don’t need things to chew on to keep their teeth filed. They grind them down naturally everyday, such as when they eat. Don’t worry about it, nothing to fret about.
