To me, it looks a bit like a rat and corn mixed together!
Never seen one like that before..
Has it got fangs?

It is definitely a rat snake (Elaphe), and there are only two species of rat snakes in Kansas. One is the black rat snake, and one is the great plains rat snake.

I own several black rat snakes, and this is not one.

I think it is a great plains rat snake, although, I can not be 100% positive.

Hope this helps,
Jon

Corn snakes aren’t native to Kansas.

NOT a corn.
It’s a baby rat for sure, but as babies they are harder to differentiate. I’d guess great plains or texas rat over black rat though.

Well it certainly wouldn’t be an Asian Ratsnake (Elaphe) ; ) It would, however, be a Pantherophis emoryi...Great Plains Ratsnake, like everyone is saying.
