 Good Substrate?

Can sugar cane mulch be used as a substrate for a spotted Python?

I never heard of this substrate but looking at the sugar cane part I wouldn’t use it.

It’s not a specially made substrate it’s similar to straw and is used for gardening

Since these snakes need some moderate humidity needs I would recommend a mulch type substrate like eco earth or cypress mulch. Although aspen can be used it doesn’t help with humidity and bark substrates may help with humidity but can be dangerously lodged in the gut not to mention it can cause mold to grow in the enclosure. I never use products that aren’t specifically made for my reptiles because I don’t know the outcome of using such products. If your still gonna go ahead and use the straw thing made for gardening I’m pretty sure it has some chemicals in it but just check to be safe.
