Sumatran blood??

I’d go with the carpets... because I like their slender bodies compared to a big, fat bloods. On the other hand, I would love a blood but I know they are way less forgiving when it comes to husbandry, on top of needing a lot of humidity. Carpets are more outgoing (from what I’ve seen) and are more active than bloods are. I personally prefer carpets... They are a lot of fun to handle and are very rewarding to keep. Talk to some blood owners. See why they love their bloods. Everyone has their personal affection towards a certain species.

I have 2 Sumatran Bloods, Bloods are great snakes. Mine are very tame. They don’t deserve the bad rep that they are labled to have. I’ve always wanted a carpet but bloods are great snakes.

bloods are not hard to keep. they for the most part have pretty simulor requirements as ball pythons. They have obvious diffrences but for the most part same basic thing, only main diffrence is just keep the humidity a little higher. you could just use a humidity box instead of worrying as much about the overall humidity. thats what i do. they love there humidity boxes. a nice good humid hide.

I would go with a carpet. They are beautiful snakes. I have a junglexcostal carpet and he is about 6-7ft... the nicest snake ever... we had about 13 kids crowed around in his face petting him and he was relaxed and very tolerent of them all.

I mean... yeah... you can do that. But why? Snakes like more square feet to rest on. I know some ppl say carpets are arboreal, but trust me they use just as much floor space as any other snake. All that other space would be kinda wasted. Now I did that way back when I had crested geckos. I put a little strip of plastic at the bottom to keep substrate in and just had the screen tops held on with clips, that worked out cool, but they would stay near the top of the cages, they were hardly on the floor.
What other kinds of snakes have you had?

There’s really no comparison between the two. We have 3 bloods and 4 carpets .The carpets are a joy to watch . There very active,inquisitive (they check you out alot) Are all extremely friendly except one I just got but he is taming . Great to handle.
The bloods ? Well, they kinda just sit there . Yep, that’s about it lol All three we have had since babies and there all very tame but they do nothing . Literally . Open the tub, they don’t even look at you, they eat and sleep. You can hold them just fine but once again, they just sit there.

We have a beautiful tame blood for sale if your interested !!

sra the cage is tall. it would actually be bigger on the ground if it was on its side... and that would also keep humidity up because its not going out the top but i wont need to do that if i get a carpet.


nty jbreddawg im picking up what ever im getting at the show im going to next weekend. yea i really like bloods colors and patterns but a nice colored jungle would be good too.... could i get a nice bright yellow one for $300. thats all i have to spend right now.

You should be able to find one. The really nice one I bought I paid 400.00 for but I did run across another one later that was (almost) as nice for 225.00
There were plenty between 50.00 and 150.00 but they weren’t as nicely colored.
One I bought

i would go with a carpet python, i think that they just look better then the blood python. the blood i have isnt head shy in the least bit. my carpet is a diamond jungle carpet and i have had him for 7 months now.

why would you want to drill holes in the branchs anyway, i mean i would just put it in there the way it is if i could find one that is nice enough. but as far as showing cages i guess ill start this one, lol


Now before anyone asks it is a 20 and he is only about 1yr old im guessing, ive had him for almost 8 months now.he is also a diamondXjungle. that i got for 90 if i remember correctly, it was either 90 or 95 so im not to far off im wrong.

well i wanted one that is like a vine like gos across in the air. i actually figured it out tho. i got the vines that bend with the wire in them. cut them in size. made it so a little wire was showing. then got suction cups and put the little wire showing through it and stuck them up. works fine. (i meant drilling holes in the cage to stick the thing across).... omg i cant wait to get mine!!!
