GTP and JCP Duel Housing?
What are your thoughts on housing a Jungle carpet and a Green Tree Python of equal size in the same vivarium? Also, do you believe that an enclosure of the following size to be adequete? 6 foot high, 4 foot wide, and 3 foot deep. The enclosure would be as natural as possible. Natural plants and multiple basking and hide spots would be present. I am open to constructive advise but I do not want " downtalking" from cocky hobbyist> THANK YOU very much. Pyhtons freaking rock, no doubt!

GTP and JCP Duel Housing? Besides the obvious problem (individual personalities vary, so unless you buy a pair that are already longterm room-mates you can easily end up with conflict) what about the humidity issue?
Carpet pythons are fine at 50 per cent humidity. By 70, you’re just asking for trouble. But if the upper level, where the green tree python is, is getting enough for the GTP, then the rest of the cage is probably going to be a bit damp. You can keep a GTPs substrate moister than a JCPs becauae the GTP isn’t going to decide to climb down and sit on the floor all day, but the carpet python will.

GTP and JCP Duel Housing? Honestly, I will never, ever tell anyone to house more than one snake in a cage. There are just too many downsides to it. Disease, parasites, cannibilism, sickness, stress, territory issues, the list goes on and on. What about when you’re feeding? I’ve seen snakes get confused over meals (housed in the same enclosure, mind you) and start eating eachother. Just too risky in my opinion. They would be way happier (hypothetically, since you don’t have them yet, yes?) being in their own confined space. Snakes are solitary creatures, and it’s up to us (the owners/providers) to create an environment that plays to their needs.

GTP and JCP Duel Housing? Thanks for the advice guys. I appreciate it. I have the JCP, he is 2 years old and awesome. I do not have a GTP but I have been playing around the idea. My first thought was that housing them togethor would not be a good idea, and then I thought that it could possibly be done. I figured I’d look for others insight. I suppose I will go with my first thought. Let’s be honest snakes arnt really big on shareing food and space with a "buddy" Thanks again

GTP and JCP Duel Housing? I would say it depends on the attitude of the GTP. In my experience most are extremely aggressive but there are a few that are very dosile. I own multiple JCPs and a friend of mine owns a few GTPs we have dual housed the calmer ones on occassion with absolutely no problems (humidity kept between 60-70) 4’x3’x2’ cage humidity read in the middle of the cage. Misting system set up at the top the GTP spent most of his time on the top branch occassionally in the middle branch and the carpets were usually middle branch lower branch or laying on the ground. But I must let you know this was with only one of his GTPs which in the last 4 years hasn’t bitten anyone even during feeding. The three carpets he was with are also very dosile ranging from 3-5 yrs old varying in size from 4-6 feet. Hope that helps good luck and I say screw conformity do something different ;)
