Pics of Molly after shed, doing well moving up to small rats, everyone agree he’s ready? About 38" and 4" diameter.

She’s over 3 feet and isn’t on small rats yet? Yes, get her on small rats, mine was taking mediums when she that size. Retics can down huge meals with no problems. What size food is she eating now?

Largest adult mice available. Asked shop where we get the mice an they said he was’nt ready for rats yet. seems that was bad advice. He fed yesterday and his next meal will be a small rat.

I did’nt come on here to have people be mean to me, especially not you. I’m here to keep you informed on your snake, and let you know he’s well cared for. He ate a med rat today no problem. a few people have said he should be much bigger than he is cause he has’nt been eating large enough prey so made the switch today. He, err ahhh, molly handled it like a champ. BTW you or Jake can call anytime.

His first rat...apparently overdue took him down immediately and consumed it in less than 10 mins. Was a bit concerned it may have been tooo large. can see a bulge but not huge. Should he have an even larger prey? Pic is about 10 hours after meal.

I’ve got all the info on how to do it safely and securely. Been to the site and looks doable. Need to establish a line of communication w/ your mom to make sure you have enclosure and supplies for him and hopefully we can work it out to get him to you as soon as possible. In the mean, time I’ll be taking excellent care of him and send you pics and notes on him as much as possible. If we chat on yahoo, i can get him on cam also for you.

I would stick with that for a couple feedings but its tough to tell seems everyone has a different rating for sizes of rats I would also get it on frozen thawed much cheaper and safer and one other thing I used to do when I fed on a subsrate is put down a piece of cardboard so it wouldn’t ingest the mulch

Thats a good idea on the substrate, I was thinking of that whle watching him eat yesterday (possibility of ingesting some of the reptibark) The pic posted is his feeding tank which still has the bark. His permanent enclosure has aspen pulp. I’m gonna switch the feeder to aspen and follow your suggestion on the substarte. As far as the frozen food, he was very reluctant of the only frozen mouse we got him, possibly is was’nt completely thawed, who knows, and live mice were only pennies more. The rats are like triple the cost of mice, so I will be looking what the difference is on rats and may go to them. Thanks for your advice, I will certainly be trying both reccommendations.

I would keep with that size right now.Dont overdue it but he does need a good medium sized rat.

I would also not put him in a feeding tank. This a myth and nothing more.Snakes do not have the brain cpacity to think that just becuase you open the tank they will get fed.Even if they did wouldnt they associate food with coming out of ther tank and bite.

Coming out of the cage promotes stress and that is not very good when your feeding. Not to mention it will be very hard to get him in and out of feeding cage when he gets big.Plus when he gets done even he will have an extremely different feeding response when your lugging around a 15 ft retic that is looking for more food.
