High Fat diet ? for burm. Has anyone ever heard that guinea pigs are too fatty to feed to a burm more than occasionally? The reason I ask is, I’ve been feeding my Burm XXXXL guinea pigs to try to put a little extra weight on her for the breeding season, but was told that I should only feed them every once in a while. I only have a few left and then I’m gonna start using my rabbits. Just wondering i guess.

High Fat diet ? for burm. Guinea pigs are very fatty, something like 40% I believe. From what i’ve heard they should be switched off every other feeding with a rabbit.

High Fat diet ? for burm. Guinea pigs are fatty and will put on weight. When I was at NERD, Andy told me he puts his breeders on guinea pigs to pack weight on for breeding. You will be fine feeding off the rest and then switching to rabbits.

High Fat diet ? for burm. Ok thanks for the info. I just wanted to see what ya thought, so I know what to order next time I get rodents. I know the guinees weren’t gonna be much longer but they are quite a bit cheaper than rabbits.
