welcome to the club, burms are a lot of fun. if you have any feeding questions dont be afraid to ask.
birth to 5 feet appropriate sized rats weekly.
5feet on appropriate sized rabbits ever 10-14 days, depending on their activity and movements.

the neighborhood kids holding karma always knocking at my door to see the big snake
she isnt full grown yet but shes getting there.

 My first burm

Thanks guys, i have alittle bit of work ahead of me because the guy i baught him from was feeding him 3 mice a week in his cage live so i have to change it over to frozen rats and he’s kind of hesitant to eat the rat. any sugestions on feeding im? i was gonna give him 3 more mice but in the feed box so he can get used to it because i think it is too much stress to go from mice to rats, live to frozen, and cage feeding to out of cage feeding all within a week of me having him.

thanks, mike

Personally I would leave him feeding in the cage, there is no need to move him at all for feeding you will just stress him out and think when he is bigger and heavier. I think it is safe to say that most burm owners here feed in the cage. As for switching to rats do it don’t give in may take a few weeks but it will happen. I would switch to F/T right away, if not frozen at lease kill it right before. Hope that helps abit.

yea i totally agree with flicker about feeding in the cage.....you wouldn’t wanna be moving a 10+ ft burm around when it smells food.

well usually if my babys don’t take frozen right off hand i usually wait 2 weeks and it seems to get him a lil more hungry and they usually take it every time. then go back to once a week and it usually works fine......but it may take a lil longer just work with him and he should eventually take it.

hope this helps
good luck with him! he’s beautiful!

feeding burms outside their cage is putting a risk of personal injury or death. i have been constricted by a burm its not fun and it was a out of cage feeding, i only feed in cages now, burms feeding response is to strong and last to long.

i will never feed outside a cage again.

beautiful burm

burms like to hiss makes them feel "big" i think.

im sure your burm will hiss and kinda flinch or try to flatten out when you try to grab it out of the cage

mine has been doing that since november of 2007 and she still does, not as often but she will still hiss or flinch sometimes, but she never acts on it and once she is out of the cage she is fine.

they are goofy.
