burms do not need a hide, depending on your enclosure
i say burms will appreciate a tight dark hide if it’s enclosure is too bright and spacious

my burm loves her hide, i try to incorporate a hide into every cage. i think its a case by case basis though, some use them some dont.

IMO all snakes should have a hide, this can be done by many means.for instance placing a towel over one side of the cage.I had no hde for the burm i just built a cage for,i just had him in a low traffic area and he was fine.Allthough if you provide a tight fitting hide i gaurantee the snake will use it.

Jason.

i think it depends on your perticular burm. i do believe that all babies should have a hide though. once they get bigger though, some just stop using them. we have 2 burms right now. the female loves her hides. she uses them through most of the day and comes out at night to explore. the male however completely stopped using his hides a while ago so we eventually took them out to give him more cage space. you need to take into consideration the traffic level around your burms enclosure if you are considering taking the hides out. we keep all our snakes in their own room "the reptile room" so there is virtually no traffic through there unless we are cleaning tanks, feeding, or getting someone out for some quality time. if you keep your burm enclosure where there is a fair amount of traffic you should probably keep at least one hide in there for them. you want the snake to be able to have a place where it can go to feel safe if the people or other animals in the room start to stress it out. the last thing you want is a stressed out burm. like some of the others have said i think whether or not a burm needs a hide goes on a case by case basis. some will always need a hide while others will eventually stop using theirs. you just have to know your snake.
