1 last time feeding in or out cage Does anybody actually feed their burm or retic or any snake larger than 8ft. outside the cage? I no 2 ppl that have burms that feed in a seperate container but I havent talked to them in a while. I no the problems with taking such a large snake out putting it in the tub or something then after swallowing the meal the snake is in feeding mode and will possibly take you down next. Now my female boa has a very aggressive feeding response and stays in feeding mode and tries to get my hand next. I have to sepertate her mouth and my hand with the lid of the tub to put her back in her cage. So I decided (like my burm)to feed her inside the cage, mind you she’s a sweet and tame snake, and now all of a sudden she seems aggressive hissing at me and watching every movement I make when I try to take her out. I use the hook to rub her with but she freaks out more when I touch her with the hook. Point is she was never a hisser or gave me a problem taking her out the cage until I fed her inside the cage. I understand theres ppl who feed out the cage and dont have problems with it but these are ppl who own ball pythons and baby or juvinile boas. Is there anybody thats feeds their large snake out the cage and how do you do it?

1 last time feeding in or out cage i feed my burm outside the cage onetime and she tried to eat me, after that incident i feed all my snakes in their enclosures. never had another incident, and never have any cage aggression problems. i used to feed the small guys in tubs but after the burm incident i will always feed in the enclosures.

1 last time feeding in or out cage kinda similar to my story. I was big on feeding outside the enclosure til I got my burm. I went on forums and all the experts fed inside. Today I fed him outside just to see how he would act and he at 1st looked directly at my hand in feeding mode stance. Then after like 3min. he didnt pay me any attention and I was able to pick him up with no problem but then again he’s only 2ft. I put him in the cage and he followed my hand his neck was extended totally straight it didnt look like he wanted to eat it just as if he new my hand means leaving the cage. I still have another week before feeding day to study his behavior.

1 last time feeding in or out cage All of our snakes are fed in there enclosure, and we never thought of feeding our Burm outside of the cage knowing how big he would get in the long run.
