sorry to hear that glad you are ok.

gotta remember safety first, or it is a fast way to become a statistic.

were you thawing food out or have live food in your house, or have food smell on you.

kinda weird for a random bite and constrict for nothing.

must have been having a bad day.

Damn I know that smarty pants hurts! 2 days after I got my 11 ft female - she’s the one who passed away 2 days ago =( - I had handled a rabbit and forgot to wash my hands before I got her out. I didn’t think anything of it and she was fine when I got her out to put her in the shower. As soon as her body touched tile and I left go she came up on me and grabbed my arm and wrapped on my chest and waist pinning my arms to my sides. Scary as Hell and Hurt like a . Luckily I wasn’t alone I screamed for my husband and when he came in the room, he ran back out! but only to get a bottle of rum. There was no way he was getting off by prying her off, if he took to long she would have killed me she was sqeezing so tight that I was having trouble breathing. She poured some rum in her face and she let go but I was more worried about her. I was bleeding all over my bathroom because I was dumping water on her to get the rum off. THen I grabbed the phone to call a friend to make sure she would be alright. Hubby had to tend to my arm while I smoked a cigarette and was crying on the phone. All the while we were outside I was bleeding all over and shaking so hard. It really scared me. If I had been by myself she would have killed me in front of my kids. SO always be careful. I recommend handling anything over 7 ft with another person around just be safe. They are very powerful animals and I LOVE THEM!!!!!

I have a question for the 2 of you . are the snakes that bit you hook trained ?if they are were u using your hooks or just reaching in? not to be a jerk but the only reason I feel we get bit by these animals is purely human err. I have also been bit by an 8ft snake ( it was not mine) the snake was not hook trained or handled often. when it grabbed me I wasnt to suprised because i knew how the snake was raised. another thing I see with burm owners all the time is they get laxed with their burms and think they are just big lazy , gentle snakes. which is I my opinion another reason people get bit

No she wasn’t hook trained. And yes it was my fault for not washing my hands. I harbored no ill feelings for her. I miss her dearly, everyday. I think the tearing wouldn’t have been so bad, I have a pretty nice scar from her =) , but my 6 year old son likes to watch the feeding process and he was standing just outside the door when I screamed and came running in like my little knight and tried to pull the snake off me only he didn’t know that he was tearing my arm in the process. He was my little hero though for trying to save mommy. He was pretty shaken but I think him seeing this was best he had no fear of them and I feel you can’t respect them the way they should be without a little fear. Especially at such a young age. He loves any kind of reptile. But after bandaging my arm and a few advil I was fine. I think getting bit was good for me too because it taught me to respect their shear size and power a lot more.
