Why The Hissing, Huffing, & Puffing.

I just aquired(3 weeks ago) a 9’ Albino Burm(sort of rescue) and she hisses, huffs, & puffs while in her enclosure. Then after I take her out she’s ok for a bit then she’ll start doing it again. Does anyone know the reason why this happens? (I do have experience w/snakes, just not Burms)
Any positive feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

If you took her in as a rescue, there is a god chance that it hasn’t been handled much and just needs to adapt. The hissing is just a burm being a burm, it’s totally normal. Good to see that you’re giving it care, don’t be discouraged. Keep working with her, and I’m sure you’ll both be happy. You may want to pickup a snake hook also if you havn’t already.

Oh, good. I was a little hesitant on keeping her.(she’s beautiful though, not sure I could give her up). I am going to be getting a book.(any recommendations?) I do take her out around every 5 days for a half hour or so.

Thanks for your help,

No, a snake hook. You could check around, I think Beanfarm has them. You may want to handle a few times a week if possible. Hope this helps.

Yeah, I read it to fast the 1st time. whoops!!!
I try to handle her more but I have 19 other Reptiles that need my attention too. Along w/ everything else. SO, I’m definatelly going to keep working w/her. I have NO problem getting her out of her enclosure or handling her. Thanks again,
