From live to frozen after a lot of research and thinking, i’ve decided to move my young burm to frozen rats. however, he’s being a pain in the buttmunch about it, and i can’t get him to eat. his weekly feeding day was yesterday, i placed a frozen rat, thawed and warm of course, in his enclosure, but he did everything but eat it. he investigated it, and it even moved somehow from one end of his tank to the other, but he won’t eat it. my red tail boa, who’s twice the size, ate a frozen rat just fine yesterday, what can i do to get this little monster to eat? this is a picture of him, just so you have an idea of size.

From live to frozen If you have a large pair of tweezers, put a live one in and let him kill it,or pre-killed,when he is down to the tail, and feet are going in take rodent by the neck and place it in his mouth and move away slow, when he is "in the zone" so to speak he will keep on eating. It is called chain feeding and will more or less convert your snake in a few sessions, hopefully.
Hope i helped,
Mangrovian.

From live to frozen ok so more controlled feeding, as compared to just a frozen one? i assume the jump from killing his own rats to finding them dead on the floor of his enclosure wasn’t too appealing for him. how does one kill a rat? i’ve heard some people just hit the head of the rodent against a concrete wall or something, but its definitely something i’m unfamiliar with. would i be able to use the frozen rat i still have and dangle it in front of him, or will he just refuse it?

From live to frozen Since you have tried him already with no response wait a few days, then get a frozen rat put it in a bowl and un thaw it till it is warm, then with tongs grab the rat by one of the hind legs and hang it near him make it dance some lol and you should have no problem don’t grab it by the tail cause the tail may snap off. Just laying it on the ground won’t do anything if he has already been used to moving food. Hope that helps some.

From live to frozen we’ll see how it goes! this little snake’s very picky, its like owning a spoiled cat or somthing! are they all this picky, or is he just so accustomed to live food he’s going to need to get used to it? i do appreciate your help, you’ve been great!

From live to frozen Ya, you just need some type of tongs (for prey items besides heavy rabbits, I use those little grabbers some old people use to get stuff out from behind the couch or whatever) Then hold it by the hips or whatnot and jiggle to where he can get it.
