 Substrate for breeding rack

Hey everybody :) I was just wondering for those of you who have ball python racks with newspaper substrate..do you have a hard time retaining humidity? I would like to use cypress mulch substrate but i’m worried the heat from the heat tape wouldn’t get through the mulch enough to heat to proper temps. ANy thoughts on this? THanks in advance

Do you have room to create a humid hide box ??? Cypress mulch in a seperate container misted will do what you are looking for, or spahgnum moss also.

Oh okay, thats a great idea! yea, the tubs that I would house my adults in should have more than enough room for a humid hide. I wont be cramping my babies! :)
