hi right now i have a bearded dragon in a ten gallon tank and in a few weeeks i am going to move him to his final enclosure. my question is i was looking to put something in my ten gallon once the beardie is gone and i wanted to put something thats pretty tame in there. it would not be a permanent enclosure for it. i was at the pet store the other day and there was a sudan plated do these make good pets and could a baby be kept in the ten gallon any suggestions.

They are pretty tame they have a natural shyness but tolerate handling if u do it enough. If by baby u mean about 3 to 5 inches yes but bigger no i have a male and female yellow throat my male is in a 90 and the female is in a 40 breeder so if it is bigger than 5 inches than i would put it in a permanent home right away which is around 50 to 55 gallons but the bigger the better. They get around 24 inches and are ground dwellers so longer and wider tanks are better than high ones. They need a 10.0 UVB and heat lamp and powdered suppliments one with D3 and one without the substrate should be pretty deep they like to dig. and have a water bowl large enough for them to fit there entire bodies in all in all they ca get expensive pretty fast.

Sudans can be on sand but i sugest mixing the sand with regular old dirt half sand and half dirt try to get the dirt from somwhere were they dont put in any fertilizers. And the mecury light would be good in the 55.
