i would suggest not mixing species. You can always just put a divider in there if the tank is big enough with a section gone to still properly house both.

Good luck either way. beardies and plateys both rule!

i would totally say dont do it, most reptiles are solitary for the most part. and youd be gambling that all the way to the grave of one or both of those lizards...

besides, theres the case of parasitic infestation. species specific or not...

also there could be dominance struggles or even a one sided brawl...

id say listen to snakes guy on this one, if you ABSOLUTELY MUST DO THIS.... please use a divider....

another plated... but only if its the opposite sex. good luck finding a breeder though, this species isnt highly bred in captivity, and most of the ones you find in petstores are wild caught (despite their friendly demeanor)

if you cant find a plated of the opposite sex... just leave it alone. interaction with another animal would be fine if you know 100% that there wont be fights or territory stuggles

sometimes people housing different species will have one of their pets get sick because of a parasite that lay dormant in one species, and explodes into infestation in another species.. thats called species specific parasitic infestation... happens often when housing frogs with lizards together, and also poses a threat with a lot of different cases of cross species housing...

yeah its a giant platey but its not realy giant the name is deceiving they only realy grow to about 19 inches at most. so can you house different types of plateys together?

Its completely fine to keep plateds and beardies together. i have male plated and a male beardie together, and also a female plated and a female beardie. even the local breeders and shops keep them like that.

if you have a plated lizard that only grows to 19 inches you do not have a giant plated lizard (gerrhosaurus validus). if you go to one of the old posts i put on here labeled identification you can see some pics of one of my giant plated lizards that is currently 25 inches and still growing. you may be able to compare it to the other two pics i posted and figure out if it is the same type as either of them. and as for housing two species together i would not recommend it due to the risk of parasites. most wild caught plated lizards have a heavy dose of parasites when they are imported so housing it with a bearded dragon would put it in un-necessary danger. Just my 2 cents

Cheers,
MJLI

Im not an expert on the plated cos i have only just bought one but i have a beardie.I would say if you were going to do it you should buy a back up cage but both plated and beardies do eat exactly the same food and have practily the same habitat because the beardie lives in the outback and the plated live in the savana so give it go and good look.
