New platey
i was wondering if i have everything right as per the vivarium.: -he/she iskept in a 55 gallon fishtank... -95 degree basking, 60% humidity, 85 degree warm end, 75 degree cool end, night time temps never fall below 64 or i turn on an extra night lamp. (the temps are never perfectly exact of course, but i know thats fine.) -the substrate is washed playsand, but to discourage impaction i feed outside the tank. -driftwood accessories on the warm side, medium rock style water dish in the middle, and a half log hide on the cool end. -i run a reptiglo 10.0 tube, a 60 watt house bulb for 13 hours a day, and a night glo 24/7 to make sure temps are right. i feed her a small F/T arctic mouse once every 4 days, and worms(supers as a staple, mealies and red wrigglers as a treat) 3 times a week, and veggies every other non carnivorous day. shes doing well with feeding and thermoregulation, but is it normal for her to be shedding constantly for this past week and a half? she drops a few scales a day, sometimes tons at a time, especially when i handle her (which i do daily for an hour and no problem with biting so far, even durring hand feeding![which i might add wasnt so fun with my water dragon, talk about teeth!]) if anyone still frequents this server, please gimme some advice. it will be gladly appreciated. i have no problem conforming when it comes to the health of my reptiles. |

This’ll give you pretty much all you need to know. http://www.reptileparadise.com/cs_sudan.htm Key points for keeping a plated ... This tank needs to be the total opposite to a WD viv lol HIDES and plenty of them Substrate they can dig in. These guys need a very shallow water bowl, and a lot more ground area, height is not needed. I suggest a small paving slab of sand stone under the basking area to help wear down their claws. I kept mine in a temp tank which was 4 feet long, 1 foot high and 1 foot deep. Mesh top 10% UVB tube, and a guarded ceramic bulb on one side to get the best thermogradient TD.x. |

i have the cage set up right by now im positive, he enjoys it, lots of floor space. i never see him climbing on anything other than the log in his basking side or his hide log. so i removed a tall standing tree-like thing i had. his water dish was Lee’s first one when he was a little dragon, and its wide enough for him to lay across it. |
