 Bambo plants

Normally I have a green thumb but, for some reason I can not keep a bambo plant alive! Iíve killed 3 so far. Last night it was green and healthy, this morning the stalk is yellow. What am I doing wrong? It
doesnít seem to matter if I make sure itís not in direct sunlight, I tried indirect and direct. I even made sure the water was 24 hrs old. I have gone so far as to buy bottled water. Why would it turn yellow in a matter of hours? Can it be saved or should I just give up?
