 MHD doesn’t want to eat!

So I recently got a Mountain Horned Dragon on November 5th. He’s in a nice big tank and the temp. Is pretty stable. It stays between 74-82. I use a UVB, and a dark heat bulb. I have a basking bulb but I don’t usually use it. He has live plants, and a large water bowl with an air stone to circulate the water. He also has a large stick and twisting vines to climb on. He will drink water often, but the problem has arisen that he rarely eats. I think in the time I’ve had him he ate two crickets the first week, another cricket the second, the. 3 meal worms, and an earth worm the next, so I guess he has eaten, but now he doesn’t really want to. I’de guess he is about 3-4 months old, because his horns haven’t fully grown in, but are coming in. He is usually a combo of green and brown, and is fairly calm. Just wanted to see if this eating pattern was normal.

Up the temps a little more with a 75° cool side and they need a basking spot sooooo you’ll need to use that basking bulb. Are you giving him calcuim dust with D3?? Give him a more varied diet like dubia roaches, mealworms, little hornworms etc...

Great thanks! The only reason I wasn’t using the basking bulb a lot was because I had heard they were more used to filtered light so they wouldn’t really need it. Also how should I do the cool side if the tank is mostly tall? Should it just be the back is hotter?, or should I have the cool side by the water bowl?

It matters how you set it up but my 7’ water monitor cage is 16’ long 6’ high and 5’ wide so the high part of his cage is very hot, the middle would be warm while the bottom would be cool around 70-76 because he would climb to bask and get warm. How tall is your tank?? The bottom can be cooler and top hot like how I did.

Also as far as the varied diet goes, he hasn’t eaten anything to my knowledge in the past 6 days. It’s really worrying me. Do you think I need to start force feeding.

I go against force feeding because it stresses them even more and can damage their esophagus, tissue or something else if not done correctly but if you know how to do go ahead. How’s his health? Did you see a vet to see if force feeding is an option or if its something else? How’s his setup??
