I have read quit a few post on the same problem that others have had. I got supper worms and earth worms how long should I let it go before I start to force feed him or her (do not know which) any help would be great it seems happy treks around the enclousure and visits the waterfalls But I am just starting to build a proper cage the person how had the lizards did not read anything on them so I hope i can bring this little guy around.

I have had him or her for a week and I do not think he is shedding he is very dark in colour brown or green.Like I said I am very new at this so everthing is a learnning experience I gave him his own cage today with lots to climb on and seems happier so maybe it is a step in the right direction and I am in the middle of constructing a massive cagewith a river waterfall and pond 8’x10’x4’ so I hope they will like that even better because I would not be happy in a fish tank!

Sounds like s/he might be a little stressed.....Just make sure to keep him hydrated...You need to give him time to acclimate.....so just keep an eye on him..give him some time and he’ll start eating.....They can be stubborn little stinkers sometime.....

 Mhd not eating

Hi there. I have been keeping (and love!!) mountain horned dragons for almost 6 years now...
My advice:
1. Definitely do not keep an MHD and a water dragon together. MHD’s are not very active and stress easily, whereas CWD are much more active, and even if the two do not physically bicker, the CWD’s presence would affect your MHD and stress it out.
2. A week is not exceptionally long for a stressed MHD not to eat, but now that they are separated your MHD should show more interest in food if it is somewhat healthy. Do you know how it was kept and cared for before you got it or anything about it’s past?? Either way, one of the most important things right now is keeping him hydrated and keeping the humidity up. It would be a good idea to soak him in some lukewarm water, just up to his belly or so, you don’t want him to be swimming or anything, and cover the top of whatever you use to soak him in about 3/4 of the way to make it nice and humid. Just let him soak for about 20 minutes. Just try this once for now, and then later that day and/or the next day offer him some food. I would not try a pinky, it is harder to digest if your MHD is weak or ill, but DO offer different things, crickets, waxworms, superworms, and night crawlers/earthworms being the best choices.
Keep us updated on how he is and if you have any more questions! If you can get a picture on here of his tail area we can tell you boy or girl.

Thanks too everyone for their insight and advice the temp is 22c and humidity is about 80% and he or she is not doing so well! it does not move at all I have been misting twice a day with luke warm water.I will take a couple of pictures I just do not want to handle the little guy I am just tring to let him a climatize to tell you the truth I think it is a girl by some of the stuff I have read and some diagrams posted on anoyther site but hard to tell I think it has lost alot of weight since it has come to live with us. Unfortunaitly there are not vets that have any reptil experiance where I live. I guess that is one strike againest living in the north. I live in northern Ontario. To answer another question I got these two guys from my nephew and I am quit sure he did not know alot about rising lizards just one of those passing fads! any how he has had them for about a year and a half and always had them housed together I think that was fine when they were small but the CWD is getting quit big and very active. any how I called a vet in the city and he told me pretty much what you people have said, and is mailed me some stuff to worm them with and we will go from there. well thats enough rambling for tonight and to everyone Thanks again and I will keep you all posted and I am sure I will have many more questions and I will try and get those pictures and pictures of the condo. CHEERS!

Cool, deworming the MHD would be a good thing. If she has lost alot of weight and is still not interested in food, and if you are comfortable trying, it would probably be good to try to start force feeding. If you haven’t read about it on here yet, sometimes if you gently stroke the side of a MHD’s mouth, it will open it right up for you, so you could try that, and then stick some food in. You may have to gently rub her throat to get her to swallow. I used a mixture of pedialyte, calcium powder, and meaty baby food for the fist MHD’s I had to recuperate years ago, but I have also used crickets on some. Just a little bit, too much food at first can be overwhelming and too much for her to handle...
Your temps and humidity sound great though. We would love pictures, I hope she starts doing better, keep us updated!

It is a boy, he is gorgeous, such long spikes! But definitely very thin. Keep doing what you are doing, you’re doin a great job it sounds like, with the force feedings and keeping his humidity up, and hopefully a deworming. I am glad you found this forum and that your MHD found you! Keep keeping us posted on how he is.
