 Pinkies???

sorry im sure this has been asked before but i did not find it! can mhds eat pinkies?? mine is about 11.5-12 in so she is pretty much full grown i think. she very seldom likes to eat crickets...she really doesnt like to have to work for her food much, she is like the paris hilton of reptiles she waits for everything to be brought to her on a silver platter HAHA!!! but i was just wondering if i should try to see if she would like a pinkie??

 Pinkies???

I dont know if a pinky is too big. They do have very big mouths. But from what i heard feeding pinkies is bad for all lizards. So i wouldnt try it but i might be wrong.

 Pinkies???

I was kinda hopeing that someone else could help answer this cause i remember we talked about this a long time ago but i can remember. Idk if they would be ok with eating a pinky I think personally i wouldnt feed them one but Thats just my opinion. I think they are just a little too small. Well i know that they have a lot of fat right. Pinkies do not the lizards right? I remember that they are bad for your leopard geckos.

 Pinkies???

they are not bad they can only be fed as a treat because they have no nutrition only fat and water fuzzies have nutrition and if its big enough it can eat them

 Pinkies???

At one time our female Capra ate one. I was feeding my Tegu and she came over where I had them and I offered her one thinking she wouldn’t eat it, she gobbled it down with no problems.
After that happened I had a chance to talk with someone who breeds, imports and sells reptiles and is very well respected in the field. He was looking into breeding MHD’s and his problem with feeding them pinkies is that MHD’s have a very slow digestion, a worm doesn’t take a long time to digest. But a pinkie even with very fragile bone structures takes longer to digest.
In his opinion and I tend to agree with him is that most MHD’s are not kept in optimal conditions and health to digest them quick enough. The chances of the pinkie rotting in the stomach before digestions are high.
Now in the case of one that has just laid, her body is starving for nourishment to replace what she put into the eggs. her body will digest food much faster since her metabolism is going nuts for nourishment the risk of undigested food is much lower.

For any other reason MHD’s do not need that type of diet. They can survive just fine off of worms, crickets or roaches.
Just our experiences and discussions with others on pinkies. (Don’t even ask about pinkies and beardies)
Hope this helped some.
