Stephen - no, I sold this one. The photo is my ID’ing shot I take of every lizard that leaves here and where it went. I have three breeding groups of Kimberley Rocks right now and that is quite enough to keep my occupied along with the other stuff. So despite it’s pattern/color (which is pretty similar to most of my babies at this stage), I let it go. It looked particularly good right out of the egg for some reason with the blue neck dots and a rich orange back color.

These are my favorite of the "dwarf" species.

Good job on helping bring captive varanids into the hobby.

Thanks Mark. They’re my hands-down favorite of any Monitor too. I can drool at stuff we don’t have here in the USA, but I still come back to these guys as my passion for some reason.

Thanks. They slit slit and BAM!....all out in 24 hours and ready to run! I can’t get a group shot without them darting out of the container, so this is what you get:

Couple week old babies staying out to bask now and allowing photography. If I move too fast, babies dart into the cracks. Adults are very relaxed compared to how the babies act.

Stephen: I have 3 pairs of Kims - two of which produce eggs and one is a 13 month old pair I held back from my last year babies. I don’t put animals in trios normally except for a group of Ackies I have that are working ok in a 1.2. Two pairs are in a melamine cage that is 5’ long, 3’ deep and 3.5’ tall, the third pair is in a bigger 6’x6’x30" deep cage. The ones in the smaller cage are the ones that are breeding and reproducing the best ironically. You can keep them in trios, but it’s more comlicated IMO with one girl cycling and the males going nutty on both the one that’s "ripe" and the other one who gets essentially raped. Phermones make the males get really aggressive to mate! LOL

FF: I feed them crickets, local type roaches and fuzzy mice as adults. The baby Kims get crickets mostly with an occasional hacked up pink mouse on a dish or a little egg now and then, but mostly insects. I don’t really vary the diet all that much as what I’m doing seems to work and it’s quick/efficient to stick to two basic food items that are easy to acquire.

Justin , thanks for answering that as a lot of places state 1:2 but as you say in reality the male harasses the non-receptive female , always prefer to hear it first hand from a known keeper/breeder.

Yeah, there is a lot of bullcrap out there courtesy of ’you-know-who’ and I really had to learn by doing instead of listening with these animals. By ignoring all the internet fodder and just keeping the animals and watching them, you would be surprised what the reality is vs what you read. LOL
