Now i’ll explain why Quote: im nowhere near an expert by any means and im just now getting into monitors
Why don’t you keep your savannah and learn as you go. Get more experience under your belt with the monitor you have, and then ask your self. Can you provide another huge cage, more then double the price for a feeding bill, electricity? The perentie is the only monitor that look’s any thing like a perentie. Nile’s arn’t aggressive, there misunderstod. Look at Roger’s nile’s, there calm, don’t attack him, cause he treat’s them like monitors, not like a dog. Quote: I want something i can let roam around for periods of time, and maybe handle (but not much) just enough for cleaning and such..
You shouldn’t have to remove a lizard from it’s cage to clean it. You shouldn’t let them free roam, and you shouldn’t handle them. What would such... mean? Please re-think about getting another monitor. Why don’t you post pics of your savannah. -Terry |

Quote: but i am wanting something with more of a slender long body type similar to that of varanus perentie
Varanus Giganteus maybe. haha Talk about your sav more. Post a few pics of its enclosure and of the sav itself. We need details. Argus stay relatively small maxing out around 4-5ft. That’s a pretty good size. I would say, out of the lizards listed, that argus would be the better choice. Just know that they are incredibly active and when they don’t know you well enough they won’t hesitate to whip or try and bite you. Do your research and stick around.

Im not looking in to getting one right away, i just wanted to here different things from keepers. I am nowhere near ready for another purchase, i have ALOT of researching to do (which i will). The "and such" was meant towards cleaning, which i suppose i can do without removing the monitor, but also things like vet trips. Thank you for your opinion and advice and i welcome any criticism, im just here to learn. |

Also as said i would agree that an Argus monitor would probably be the way to go , read the many informitave threads on here about them and start with a young one. steve some get quite large , this is an adult large male just before being introduced to his new viv |
