 Somthing special.

This is really re-warding to me. May sound dump to some, but to me made me so excited. After 10 months of keeping my ackie, he has finally taken a cricket off tongs. He slowed down quite a bit after his accident the second day i had him, but is doing good now. He’s only 12 inches long at 10 months, so a bit under size. But is growing good now and filling out. Ill try to get some pic’s. as he hid right after the one cricket.

Mine never really hid from me, but after the accident, wasn’t ever really normal. I can’t just leave crickets in there for her to chase. The left over crickets from 2 weeks ago started to feed on her. She healing good though, but I feed one cricket at a time and make sure she get’s it.

That’s great news! If you don’t mind me asking, what was the accident? Or, do you have a link to the page that you made about it? :-)

I put some privacy fence on the walls fir him to climb. Well he got stuck in one of the wholes and started to swell like a ballown. So I pulled on it to get him out. He slide down, so I pulled more and it was near the screw and the fence snaped and pinched his head. His tounge was stuck out of his mouth for like a month and I think it like crushed his head. But 10 months later he’s eating good and acting alot more like a monitor then ever. Other then he doesnt flick its tounge at all. I named him Lucky after that. heres a pic after it happened.

Hey Mx, how’s the ackie doing? I know you asked about my tristis size, so just for comparison since an ackie and a tristis are both dwarfs..

Mine’s at 20" tl at 20 months of age. I’ve had it now for 14 months.

I also could tong feed my tristis, ..actually it takes food off my fingers. He’s so bold now.

Obesity is something I’ve noticed and try to avoid. I totally don’t like the fat look in them. I noticed more activity also if not fed too much. I have to consider the digestion time..

The first few pics of your ackie looks nice, not fat. Do you give him multivitamins and calcium supplements too? UVB if ever?

He’s shedding right now, the shed came off his wound good. I use repti-cal with vitemin d3 about every other, other day. I do have a uvb light on his cage, mostly just to fill in the whole that was already cut in the board, and to brighten up the cage. All in all, he’s growing better and faster now, getting bolder, and still building trust with me. I got a tegu about a month and a half ago, he was 16-18 inches long, now its about 26-30 inches long. Weighed 114 grames on october 19 and now weighed 703 grames. Im working on getting the money to build a 8x4x4.

Here’s some pics from today, I added two new branches today in his cage. The light on the left, is the uvb light.

Hey Mx cute pics. I’ve read about the toxicity effects of D3 specifically in the supplement form if used "regularly". UVB and other food source can provide Vit. D3 too.

How about multivitamins just for curiosity. I’ve been using Herpetivite multivits too, and I swear by this product! Please don’t quote me; Used multivits at your own discretion. My Tristis hates it though!! :-)

Hey Mx, your ackie enclosure intrigued me. It’s almost the same as mine in "purpose". Here’s a pic for fun comparison.

... And lastly some pics of my "very freckled" V. Tristis.. It makes forums more fun and interesting if there are pics :-)..

...

... I’m trying to slim him down a bit, specially its fwd tail section.

Don’t slim him down. You want the tail base to be thick. I personally would thickin him up a bit more.

Thief - your Tristis male actually looks very good and fit. I wouldn’t do much different except start on the adult cage.
