 Update

im glad to say my mangrove monitor is showing signs of improvment! its been about 48 hours since i had bumped the temps up even more to about 91 to 92 and the basking spot to about 118 120 and kept the humidity up at about 85%. i covered the top more to hold the humidity. there is less mucus coming out when i press on his throut and is becoming more active. he is not spending the whole day with his eyes closed and head elavated. im suprised how fast the little champ is turning around! hopfuly in a few more days he will be more like his active and trobble making self lol thanks for all your help and i will keep you posted. im still trying to get that camera but soon i will have pics to post and thank you one more time!

Good luck with him now and pleased your taking the advice that was offered by the members on here as all to often people ask advice then either kick up a fuss when it’s not to there liking or ignore it when ultimatly it’s given to help the animal in question , keep us posted on his progress.

What did you use to "cover the top more"? The mucus is from too low temps.

Is it coming out from his nostrils? I’ve observed this before and to no surprise it never happened again when the monitor was taken out of the screen top cage and kept in an enclosure that can hold proper temps and humidity levels (even at night time). The reason he keeps his head elevated is to try and keep the mucus down and not puke it up.

As your said yourself, "there is less mucus coming out". ANY mucus coming out is a bad sign. There might be less now that you bumped up the temps a bit but there is no fix to this problem with that screen top.

If you want him ’back to his normal self’ then you should quickly find an enclosure that better suits a monitor rather than accept ’less mucus’ in a fish tank.
