 Argus wont eat????

Argus was eating like a champ, then I upgraded his cage and night temps dropped and were hard to maintain. So I put him back into old setup, and hes acting normal and borrowing and swimming. He wont touch any food I try to give him. Its almost been 2 weeks? He had a cold, but it went away. Any suggestions??????

Post some pictures of you set up and give detailed description of your temps and humidity. Argus are known for their eager feeding response and there are quite a few people here who breed them so I am sure they can help

I’ve never heard of a lizard having a cold, can you explain to me how he got a cold. How big is his cage, what are his temps, whats the humidity, what is his subtrate and how deep is it, is he in a tank, if so are you using a screen lid. He should be eating tons I had one till it got 2 ft and it was eating 6-8 fuzzies a day plus crickets.

You will need a basking temp of 125F to 145F or so. Cool side of 70 and warm side of 90, try to get as close to those as you can. A humidity around 60-70%. If its a baby atleast 10-12 inchs of sandy dirt. Depending on size will depend on how big of a cage it needs. Are you prepaired for atleast a 8x4x4 cage remember the bigger the better. What are you feeding it? Mine ate most things like super, wax, meal, horn, silk worms, pinkie and fuzzie mice, 3/4 inch crickets. You should only offer whole prey items as there needed in the monitors diet, dont feed egg’s or monitor canned food or cat and dog food that stuff is bad. Make sure you got a big enough water pan or what ever for the lizard to fully submerge in.

Night temps dropped how low?

Some temporary loss of appetite is normal with changes (cage changes, addition of new animals etc.). I’ve experienced reduced feeding with mine when a major change is made, but not complete loss of appetite.

The "cold" is what concerns me (respiratory infection?). Could be outward symptoms aren’t obvious and the animal is still sick. I would have a vat check that.

Mean time some info would be helpful. Age, size, cage size, temps, humidity, substrate etc.

Pictures would be a large plus.
