 Dirty Red Ackies

They’re at it again under the romantic faux grass clump and covered in mud....

Here’s just a random shot of the new Kim male. The pair are growing very quickly and the male is already frisky (female not there yet). But she is tolerant and seems ok with just walking away from his advances and he gets the idea. These Ackies and Kims are are effin’ amazing to watch each day while I drink my morning coffee. I really like monitor lizards to a degree that could be deemed psychiatric, lol.

Stunning looking animals you have there! Might I ask just how long that tail is on the Kim male? Because WOW is that thing long!

The Kimberley Rocks have very long tails in proportion to their bodies. I believe that it is 2.5 to 1 (tail to body ratio).

Someone in the psychiatric profession could make out pretty well if he specialized in the treatment of those with monitor mania. Maybe we should start using the twelve steps for our monitor addictions, ha ha ha.

Nice Monitors Krusty!

12 steps to monitor addiction, ok.

Step 1, Im powerless over the fact that I had to bring another one home, as without it my life would be unmanageable.

Step 2, Came to believe a power greater than myself will help me provide enough food.

LOL.
Just kidding, but I cant stop thinking about the yellow tree monitor I saw last weekend and considering what can be sold to purchase him.

LOL, good I’m not the only one.

The one you showed pictures of was a Quince monitor (V. melinus), not a "Yellow Tree" (V. reisingieri).

Thank you for the correction, I just believed the sign.

I want a quince monitor.

My husband is an alcoholic. Today he swore off alcohol and told me no more reptiles. I said okay. Next time he drinks.....I get another one.

It’s a very common misnomer for some reason. I don’t get it as most tree monitors are shaped nearly the same, and a V. melinus (Quince) is shaped more like a Mangrove monitor than those. I’d rather hear them misname them something like a yellow mangrove than anything.

Hope your hubby does, I mean, doesn’t fall off the wagon! lol
