 Bearded Dragons

I have a question about a baby Bearded Dragon I got 2 days ago. Does he have to be on paper towels for him to eat. I have him on the same substrate as my big boy. sand.

I just drop some crickets in the tank and my beardie chases them down. No need to feed her in a serperate tank.

if the your basking temps are proper you will have nothing to worry about if they pick up some sand when they eat.

The first few days of new born beardies you can keep on paper towles but there is no need to. Just make sure your basking temps are around 110 degrees.

Buy a $25 temp gun and don’t use a thermometer (digital or mercury). Shoot for 120*F just under the bask and 75-95*F air temps (your digi thermometer). They should have zero problems living on dirt or sand if you keep the humidity up in the 50-65% range and they actually will dig to make cover/hides if you let them. I use strips of bark, not rocks due to the crushing risk with tunneling under rocks.
