Don’t worry asking questions is what this forum is for.

Just large enough to get into the bowl if needed. Though exanthematicus shouldn’t soak to often.

Cheers,
Chad

Ive had a cat litter box as a water bowl since my sav was that size and she still uses it. she likes to chase things in it and then eat them

your percent of humidity depends on the type of bedding you are using for him and how deep it is in there and what your temps are. Not only the temps in the cage but also the temps around the cage area or the room. If too low of humidity is your problem then some temp changes need to be made. Aim for 65 to 70% or even a little higher.

Luckily dirt is pretty inexpensive, or free if you get it from outside.

I know some keepers here recommend backyard dirt. I’ve tried it and it didnt work for my animals. It actually caused problems when it got wet. Just make sure where ever you are gettting your dirt that it doesnt have a lot of clay in it. If you add water to it and it becomes slimy then it isnt the best thing to use. If you are hurting for money, I’d recommend you just try to test out your dirt and hopefully you have better success then I did.
