 Good novice monitor

Hey i am not usually on this fourm. I have been keeping reptiles (mostly snakes) for about 7 years now and i am interested im purchasing a monitor lizard. I have kept beardies and skinks before, but never a monitor. What is a good first monitor thats max size is under 2 1/2 ft. Also how hard are these guys to take care of in relation to a red tailed boa or bull snake? Thank you so much

for a starter monitor go with yellow ackies (cheapest 150 up), red ackies, caudo/gillen crosses (harder to find but stay smaller then ackies cost in 250 range) they all get up to between 14 to 30 inches and easiest to take care of.

there nothing like snakes need hotter basking temp and need at least a ft of dirt and lot more room compared to snakes.
first you got to due some research before you decide to buy,so start looking down at some other threads.

Ackies are a great pet. I own 2 bosc monitors and 3 ackies. I would take the ackies over savs anyday.

best start would be kingsnake

idk my mom wont even let me get one rite now but N.A.R.B.C is in a few weeks and i have a very aggressive black rat snake that i will trade for something.
