 Quince Monitor!

Hey, i have just recently done a post asking about a topic related to this, yet was also about something else, so i figured I’d get more answers if it had it’s on post!

Has anyone ever owned a Quince monitor and have any experience with it as it does not get mentioned much on this forum? if so can you help me out with these species as googling it is useless! The basics will be fine, etc. Cage measurements, humidity, size and anything else you think i might need!

Thanks alot
Daryl

Try that. Take out the space. Apparently they bred successfully under those conditions so the basics were covered.

Wow, after fully reading the link from Rsharp87 these guys love to swim, they had a water bit half the size of the cage, pretty cool!!!!

There’s a care sheet on them here and Dan, who owns Tarpit Reptiles in FL, told me they were one of his fav monitors and highly recommended them (maybe he had a few for sale?)

Daryl,

From the questions you’re asking I gather you’re fairly new to monitors? A quince monitor may not be an ideal captive for you, then. They’re usually quite shy and remain hidden most of the time. Ask around on a few other forums and you’ll see the same answer over and over. Usually the people that rant and rave about what perfect captives they are coincidentally have a few to sell.

Thanks Sdlances you have been extremely helpful to me, and Crocdoc i will have a look around forums, but for the record i don’t mind having a shy animal, i also have a chameleon who you can almost never see, and when you finally find him he just hisses at you!!! But thanks for the advice and i will look around.

Thanks everyone
Daryl
