 Live to f/t

Hey I just started feeding my argus frozen mice yesterday and he excepted them like no other so thats good. But my question to you guys is what is any easy way to thaw them out? Yesterday I put 4 of them in a ziplock bag and put them in boiled water. It worked out fine but I just wanted to know how some of you guys do it. thanks

Boiling water? That’s too hot. I usually use water that is between 95 and 99 degrees but not above 100. Boiling water will cook the mice and it’s just not good.

I let them cool down after and I doubt they’ll cook in 5 min.

I take them out of the freezer the night before, so they’re ready to feed in the morning and if they are still chilled, I run them under warm water for a couple of mins before feeding them.

On the odd occasion I forget to take out of the freezer the night before, I just put them in a bowl of ’not boiling’ but very warm water, for several mins before feeding them. The water can be quite warm as the frozen mice will soon cool it down, but I wouldn’t use boiling water.

I just throw some in a bag of hot water (as hot as my tap water will get) wait 10min, dump out the water that’s cooled down then put in lukewarm water and let sit for 2-3 more minutes. Drain the water and feed off...nothing to it. :) I’m too impatient and forgetful to set them out to thaw the night before, and my luck I would go off and forget I left mice thawing out...haha Cheers, Lance

Lance, I would do the same thing if i let them sit out LOL. I just throw them in hot water let em sit for 10-20 mins till they are thawed than feed. I actually had a monitor that would only eat f/t if the mouse was WARM lol pretty interesting i think.

if the water is too hot, the rodents fall apart- warm water in a bucket is what I do too.

I set them out overnight in heavy plastic ziplock baggies that I recycle from work. Letting nasty dead chicks and mice bleed and thaw in them is a good way to get one more use out of disposable bags.

at my local reptile shop they thaw the mice out under one of the monitors heatlamps, that seemed to work pretty good!

The mice i get are in sperate bags and when i put them in warm water and then take them out its soaked and still cold from the moisture seeping in.

I just fill a large cup up with the hottest water from my sink and put in the bag of mice and use something to weigh it down( seems to thaw alot faster than sitting on top) and in like 5 mins its ready to go. I dont leave them out because all my reptiles prefer them warmer
