 Question on Exporting for Crocdoc

I was wondering why exporting cbb reptiles from Australia elsewhere is illegal. It would not damage the wild population there. I was just curious.

wow reedie, way to state the obvious.

anyways, there’s no way to tell the difference between a wc and cbb animal, so illegal smuggling of wc animals within cb shipments or just wc shipments labeled as cbb could happen too easily.

It is ashamed people can not be trusted to sell the correct animal. By the way crocdoc, you have a great collection.

 Question on Exporting for Crocdoc

Illegal smuggling of animals is big bucks. The lure of making a quick 30K on a few rare animals "snuck" out of a country is just too much for some unscrupulous folk to pass up. You’d be surprised at some of the names who get involved in such activity. It’s not so dissimilar to moving drugs/narcotics in and out of countries in the name of making money at very high risk.

I’m pretty sure the only way to get animals from AU without smuggling them in is zoos. I know that zoos send animals to different zoos around the world to make sure if something happens to that animal there are AT LEAST enough to release some babies back in the wild to try and get numbers up. Have you seen the perenti or mertains water at the zoos

Class A zoos can get them, not private individuals.

So thats that then.

I did mean private individuals.

It is a real shame that there are no channels that honest individuals can use.
I know alot of people would love some nice healthy specimens off you Dave and also to keep the bloodlines fresh for other species. but hey..........

Keeping on topic, here’s the penalty one "big name" in exotics got some years back. It was just posted on another forum recently and reminded me of this thread:
